Highlights of the Tour

Land Gate (Kopnena Vrata)

Our journey begins at the monumental Land Gate, the historic southern entrance to Zadar's Old Town. You'll learn about the Venetian influence on the city's history and uncover the mystery hidden within its carved stone decorations. For centuries, this was the main entrance to the city, making it the perfect place to begin our adventure.

Five Wells Square (Trg pet bunara)

This picturesque square is home to five Renaissance wells that supplied the city with fresh water for centuries. It is also a place where history is written into every detail—from sculptures and carvings to the surrounding defensive walls.

Medieval Zadar

We'll explore hidden corners of the Old Town, where you'll discover some of the city's earliest medieval structures and foundations. Here, you'll quite literally be able to touch history and witness how Zadar developed through the centuries.

Church of St. Simeon

One of the city's most important churches, it houses the precious relics of St. Simeon the God-Receiver, preserved in a magnificent gilded silver sarcophagus considered one of the finest masterpieces of medieval goldsmithing in Croatia. The church remains an important place of worship, and every year solemn processions are held in honour of the saint.

Kalelarga

Zadar's main street has followed the same route since Roman times. Today it is the lively heart of the city, lined with cafés, restaurants, and charming shops.

People's Square (Narodni trg) and the City Loggia (Gradska loža)

Since the Middle Ages, this square has been the political and social centre of Zadar. Today it remains a popular meeting place and hosts numerous cultural events throughout the year.

Cathedral of St. Anastasia

The largest and one of the oldest churches in Zadar, the Cathedral of St. Anastasia is an outstanding example of Romanesque architecture. Built during the 12th and 13th centuries, it has undergone several additions over the years, including Baroque renovations.

Its impressive bell tower rises 56 metres above the city, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Zadar and the Adriatic Sea. Inside, visitors can admire remarkable sacred art, Romanesque architectural features, beautiful altars, and centuries of history. Dedicated to St. Anastasia, an early Christian martyr, the cathedral reflects the rich spiritual and cultural heritage of Zadar.

Roman Forum

Explore the remains of the ancient Roman forum, once the centre of public life in the city. Walking among its ruins offers a fascinating glimpse into Zadar's Roman past.

Church of St. Donatus

The iconic symbol of Zadar, this extraordinary 9th-century church is renowned for its unique Carolingian architecture and exceptional acoustics. It is one of the finest examples of early medieval architecture in Europe.

Sea Organ (Morske Orgulje)

A unique architectural installation that transforms the movement of the Adriatic waves into beautiful, ever-changing music. It is one of Zadar's most famous modern attractions.

Greeting to the Sun (Pozdrav Suncu)

This innovative art installation comes alive after sunset, creating a spectacular display of lights and colours powered by solar energy. It is the perfect place to end the day while enjoying one of Zadar's unforgettable sunsets.
