A few facts about Sveti Filip i Jakov
Between Zadar and Šibenik, right next to the town of Biograd na Moru, lies Sv. Filip i Jakov. It is a small town that has a lot to offer travellers looking for a smaller and quieter place to relax. It owes its name to two apostles, for whom a church was built here in the Middle Ages. Life in this picturesque town is very peaceful. The residents make their living mainly from agriculture, viticulture and tourism, so you are sure to find homemade wine, honey and olive oil here. From the waterfront there is an incredible view over the Pašman Channel and the island of the same name. In Sv. What is the Flower Festival?
It is an annual festival that takes place on the last weekend of April and lasts for 3 days. The tradition of organising this event began in late 1998, when the town of Sveti Filip i Jakov took part in a regional competition for the best-kept urban space and won. In the following years it managed to repeat this success, so in 2001 the town authorities concluded that it was worth making the most of the winning streak and creating the Flower Festival. It was meant to be a symbol of how the residents care for their town and decorate it with colourful plants, keeping it tidy, clean and vibrant.
On this special April weekend, both local and international exhibitors and producers connected with the floral industry gather in the town. In addition to the fairs and exhibitions, a variety of programmes and presentations of old customs are organised, characteristic both of this area and of other parts of Croatia. Over three days you can take part in eco-workshops, lectures, floral arrangement competitions, exhibitions and fashion shows. There are also theatrical performances, made up of shows by preschoolers from the Zadar region, primary school pupils, cultural clubs, Dalmatian singers performing „a cappella” pieces, and entertainers.
The colorful atmosphere of the festival
It is one of the most beautiful festivals held in the vicinity of Zadar. The whole town buzzes with life, dressed in colourful flower buds, their sweet scent drifting through the air, while the surrounding nature awakens and slowly prepares for another hot summer on the Adriatic. Strolling through the streets of Sv. Filip i Jakov and admiring the various plant varieties, you can feast your eyes on every shade of colour that nature is capable of creating. Good Time is one of our newest properties. It is located in the town of Sv. Filip i Jakov, near the beach. The house has 5 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms and can accommodate up to 12 people. The Sun Dance apartments are located in Sv. Filip i Jakov. The building consists of two apartments. The first has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, while the second has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
