Zadar – A City Full of History and Magic

Have you ever dreamed of traveling through time to experience the spirit of ancient Rome, the Middle Ages, and modern times all in one? Our "Discover Zadar" tour is the perfect opportunity to step into the past and explore the hidden corners of this extraordinary city!

Your guide, Ania, is passionate about history and has been living in Zadar for 20 years. She knows every corner of the city and will take you on an unforgettable journey. This won’t be just any tour – it’s a deep dive into history! You'll learn how Zadar has changed over the centuries, the events that shaped its most important landmarks, and how history blends seamlessly with the present.

Highlights of Our Tour:

Land Gate (Kopnena Vrata) – Our journey begins at the monumental entrance to the Zadar Old Town from the south. You'll learn about the Venetian influence and uncover a secret hidden in a carved book.

Five Wells Square (Trg pet bunara) – A charming Renaissance square with five wells that provided the city with water for centuries.

Hidden Streets of Zadar – Walk through mysterious alleyways to discover medieval structures and ancient city foundations.

St. Simeon’s Church – One of the city's most important religious sites, holding legendary relics and fascinating stories.

People’s Square (Narodni Trg) and City Loggia – The political and social center of Zadar since the Middle Ages, now a hub for cultural events and gatherings.

Kalelarga – The main street of Zadar, dating back to Roman times, now filled with lively restaurants, cafés, and shops.

St. Anastasia’s Cathedral – is the city's largest and most significant church. Dedicated to St. Anastasia, a Christian martyr, the cathedral’s construction began in the 12th century and continued into the 13th century, making it a prime example of Romanesque architecture. Over time, the church has seen several changes and additions, including Baroque-style modifications, which have enriched its historical and architectural layers.

Roman Forum – The ancient marketplace, once a vibrant center of social life, will transport you back to Roman times.

St. Donatus Church – The symbol of Zadar, a 9th-century church famous for its remarkable acoustics and Carolingian architecture.

Sea Organ (Morske Orgulje) – A unique architectural installation that transforms the power of the waves into mesmerizing melodies.

Greeting to the Sun (Pozdrav Suncu) – An innovative light installation that turns into a spectacular display of colors after sunset.

Zadar’s Old Town is a true gem, full of historic buildings and charming streets. Surrounded by Venetian defensive walls, it forms an incredible labyrinth leading to the city's most important landmarks.
