Description

Amid lush vegetation in every shade of green, turquoise lakes, cascading waterfalls, rocky gorges, and hidden caves, Plitvice Lakes National Park will enchant you like the most beautiful story.

Located in the Lika region, in the part of Croatia known for its exceptional natural beauty as the “Devil’s Garden,” Plitvice Lakes seem straight out of legends and fairy tales. Frequently recognized as one of the most beautiful places in the world, its 16 lakes and waterfalls are among the most visited and renowned spots in Croatia. It’s not just the relaxing sound of water and breathtaking landscapes — the park is home to many protected species of plants and animals, so all visitors are asked to respect ecological guidelines and protect the flora and fauna.

Plitvice Lakes are Croatia’s oldest national park and the country’s only natural heritage site listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The lakes are divided into Upper and Lower Lakes. Their unique feature is water saturated with dissolved calcium carbonate, which, combined with the force of flowing water, forms incredible “living” travertine barriers.

MAIN ATTRACTIONS:

Upper Lakes – This group includes 12 of the 16 Plitvice lakes, separated by travertine barriers.

Lake Kozjak – The largest and deepest lake in the park, part of the Upper Lakes group. It was formed by the merging of two smaller lakes into one and is the only navigable lake in all of Plitvice. On the lake lies the travertine island Stephanie, named after an Austrian princess who visited the park in 1888.

Lower Lakes – This group of lakes is characterized by idyllic scenes of small waterfalls, turquoise waters, and surrounding greenery. Nearby is the pass-through Šupljara cave.

Great Waterfall – Located in the Lower Lakes group, with a height of 78 meters, it is the tallest waterfall in Croatia.

IMPORTANT: Entrance tickets to the national park are not included in the tour price. Tickets are guaranteed by the organizer.
