Holidays are primarily a time to rest, turn off the phone and indulge in your favorite ways of spending free time. Each of us knows exactly what is the stimulus that makes us really enjoy our free time and make full use of it - whether it is for a healthy sleep, or a bath in the warm azure sea, or for discovering picturesque places and trips into the unknown. . The variety of forms of spending holidays is the topic of today's entry, I would like to introduce you to a place, located in the Zadar Riviera region, where the ubiquity of variations in recreation reaches the level, I will use this rare phrase - perfect.
Privlaka is a small town located just over 18 km from the beautiful, historic city of Zadar, in northern Dalmatia. At first glance, you can clearly see its intimate character, as well as the incredible peace and closeness of Croatian nature. This light atmosphere of a seaside town is a powerful, healing force both for visual reasons and for calming the mind and soul. The entire part of the picturesque coast in Privlaka is a range of various, atmospheric pubs, restaurants, bars and also mini markets with fresh fruit and vegetables, which are very popular in high season because they come from organic farming. On the way to the beach, we walk along the promenade right next to a stall with juicy red watermelons, summer-scented tomatoes and homely peaches. It is worth noting that despite the relatively small town (approx. 2,300 inhabitants), Privlaka is popular with tourists due to its fantastic sandy beaches. Those of us who are happily parents of unruly children have the opportunity to fully relax here and, without any worries, swim together with their children in the exceptionally warm and very shallow sea with a bottom with a soft sponge structure. In places, the sea is shallow (50-60 cm) up to 120 m from the shoreline. A multitude of beaches, both sandy and pebble, but also wild, untouched by human interference, where we can encounter sea urchins, multi-colored fish and collect shells for a souvenir collection.
Another aspect that makes this place attractive is its absolute versatility and neutrality. Both avid sunbathers and water sports enthusiasts, children, adults and the elderly can maintain their needs for a personal comfort zone. The coast in Privlaka is long and diverse, you will find here both water parks and football pitches for children, as well as various catering outlets - from restaurants with Dalmatian, regional cuisine, through ice cream parlors and fashionable beach bars. Atmospheric souvenir shops encourage you to visit them - they hypnotize you with the scent of lavender in the air and smiling sellers, eager to chat. In Privlaka there are also rentals of water equipment, pedal boats, boats and motorboats. Moving to the central part, it is worth experiencing the magic of history and asking the locals about the numerous wells that were once dug here by the inhabitants. In other places in Privlaka, we can also come across the remains of defensive walls, long-abandoned houses, and a beautiful, historic church.
Lovers of active recreation will certainly find many opportunities to spend their free time in natural surroundings. Even in nearby Nin, another portion of exciting experiences awaits - a kite surfing club, the largest deposits of healing mud in Europe in the Nin lagoon, the Church of the Holy Cross - once considered the smallest cathedral in the world (40 m in circumference), as well as numerous remains of buildings from Roman times. Nin is also known for its own salt pan and brickworks. This small town, destroyed and rebuilt many times, arouses great interest among tourists - its origins date back to the 9th century BC.
